"My interest in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology grew after suffering for a number of years with these problems myself. I obtained my Nurse Practitioner Degree specifically to work in the specialty of allergy and asthma while expanding my knowledge base as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for over 10 years. This combination of experience in the Surgical arena and the Medical arena allows me to be a strong patient advocate and educator for my patients. I have a special interest in the diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis, whether it be in the operating room or in the real world. Other areas of interest include Food Allergy, Asthma, Eczema and environmental allergies. I find a special reward in educating patients and families about the proper administration of therapies for severe life-threatening allergies and asthma. I am committed to improving patients and family’s quality of life in those who suffer from these diseases."

“My interest in the field of allergy began in the early 1980s when the awakening field of immunology provided an understanding of the causes of many allergic diseases. I had previously had several years of training in family medicine and pediatrics in the US Air Force and in the US Public Health Services, but I wanted to enhance my knowledge of the exciting new field of immunology and allergy. I completed a fellowship in this specialty at UCLA in 1985 and opened an office in private practice in Orange County thereafter. I have been active in local and state allergy societies over the years and most recently have served as president of the California Society of Allergy and Immunology (2009). For 25 years I have been an associate clinical professor at UCI teaching residents and fellows in the department of allergy-immunology.
“My passion and inspiration have been practicing medicine and I continue to love the most important work I do, caring for patients of all ages with allergies and immune system disorders. My goals are always to understand my patients’ problems, find solutions to their often challenging allergic disorders and provide them with long-lasting relief of their symptoms so they can enjoy active, worry-free lives.”

I was inspired to become a doctor back when I was in high school. It was at that age that I really started to notice that my father had been dealing with sinus problems and itchy skin most of his life. He was constantly sniffling, coughing, blowing his nose. He was buying all kinds of creams and lotions to deal with his itchy rashes. Everyone must have thought it was normal to be this way. Like most people of his generation, he just dealt with this and never saw a doctor for many years. It was very frustrating for him, and it hurt me to see him struggle. It wasn’t until I went into medical school that I learned he had what is called “atopy,” and that there was a type of doctor who specialized in this: an allergist.
In pursuit of becoming a doctor, I graduated with honors from high school and enrolled as a double major in physiology and neuroscience at UCLA. After completion of my pre-med studies there, I attended the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific to get my medical degree. I certified in Internal Medicine in 2013 after completing residency at White Memorial Medical Center. Afterwards, I continued my medical training as a fellow at the University of Buffalo in New York, and attained certification in Allergy/Immunology in 2015. Since that time, I have been in private practice as an associate physician in Southern CA. In my spare time, I enjoy watching college sports, playing with my children, and riding my Peloton bike.
What I love the most about my job as an allergist is the variety of ailments that I can see, from minor irritations to severe life-threatening allergic disease. I particularly enjoy managing food allergies, eczema and asthma, as these chronic conditions really impact a person’s quality of life. I feel that being honest with my patients and my willingness to listen and try to understand their situation makes me a unique health care provider. Having seen my father suffer in his past, I have deeper compassion for patients with atopic disease. My hope is to continue to improve the quality of life for all my patients and become a most-valuable asset to the field of allergy and immunology.

“I decided to pursue a career in medicine, specifically the specialty of allergy and immunology, because the prospect of being able to make a positive impact on the lives of patients of all ages seemed very rewarding to me. My patients trust my care, and they know that they're important to me – while they’re in the office and after they go home. I ask every new patient, “ What is the number-one problem you would like me to solve?’ and I then create an individualized treatment plan that can provide them with lasting relief from their condition. One of the best compliments I’ve received is that so many of my patients refer their family members and friends to me.
“I have a genuine concern for the health and well-being of my patients and for people throughout the world. I've given my time and energy to many organizations and projects. I have traveled to other countries to provide medical care for the underprivileged and have participated in humanitarian efforts at the local, state and national level in the US.”
