I chose to pursue a career in medicine with the simple goal of helping people. Over the past 13+ years, I have found that specializing in allergy, asthma, and immunology as a physician assistant (PA) has been the best way for me to achieve this goal. I have previously worked as a PA in the US Army, providing primary care for active-duty soldiers, and then I worked in burn surgery and urgent care for a short time.
I take great pride in what I do, and I strongly believe in the shared decision-making model. I work closely with patients and their families to make decisions together about their treatment plans. It's important to me that patients have a voice in their care and thoroughly understand their medical conditions. Additionally, I have worked as a full-time college professor in PA programs. My background in education enables me to better educate my patients about their diagnoses, prescribed medications, and ways to take control of their own health. I am a firm believer that patients have the best chance of success when they fully understand their health and medical conditions. I am enthusiastic and prepared to assist both children and adults with their allergy and asthma needs.
